SIGAL AVNI

PHOTOGRAPHER & ILLUSTRATOR

 

Born - December 1960 - Tel Aviv - Israel.

1983 -1987 Student: Ramat HaSharon State College of Art, Israel.

Specialising in photography.

1988 - 1995 Teacher: photography, art and art history at Tichon Hadash secondary school, Tel Aviv, Israel.

1993 - current Book illustrator for publishing houses in Israel, Germany and The UK.

Recent clients in London: Bizarre (John Brown Publishers), Nursing

Standard, Tag-Man press and FNMare.com.

1994 - 1995 Student: computer graphics - Sivan - computer training centre, Tel-

Aviv, Israel.

1996 - 1999 Student: MA Communication Design (Illustration) - Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, London, England.

(completed with distinction)

1988 Awarded the Young Photographer Prize at the Second Israeli

Photography Biennale.

1991 - 1992 Received a grant from the Israeli Educational Initiative Fund to design a programme incorporating the study of photography with that of art history. This programme subsequently gained the status of an

option for the Israeli Matriculations by the Ministry of Education .

1993 Moznaim, the Israeli monthly literary magazine, dedicated its February

issue to present her work.

1995 Awarded the Double Exposure grant by the Anglo-Israeli Photography Trust.

  1. Awarded First Prize at the Young Jewish Artists Summer Exhibition - Sternberg Centre, London, England.

2000 Had been selected as The Epson DPA (Digital Print Award) 2000 award winner.
