Jason Potyok

Biography

Jason Potyok is an environment based artist who lives and works in the Niagara Region of Southern Ontario, Canada. All of his work is done outdoors, in the forests and valleys of the UNESCO designated World Heritage Preserve of the Niagara Escarpment.

Much of Jasons work is donated to raise money for various environmental and social causes. All of the work is done in Conte Crayon ( a french dry chalk ) on Canson de Teintes paper.

From April to November the artist submerses himself into the natural world - Conservation Areas , Provincial Parks and the Escarpment from 4 to 5 hours a day to walk, meditate on nature, write and draw.

This artist believes he is merely a conduit, through whom an elemental creative force can flow when the conditions are right. He has come to the point where he can only draw out in an unmediated environment away from all distractions and reminders of his individuality, seeking to become artistically organic, and as amalgamated with nature as is humanly possible.
