Biography
|

I'm 43, single, virtually unemployed, and live
with my dog and parents in the hippy-dippy town of Fairfax, in the green hills
just across the Golden Gate from San Francisco. Constantly torn between
a life in the rugged outdoors and an artististic vocation, I have tried
to sponsor my career in art through work in the various guises of
Wildlands Firefighter, Gardener, Farmer, and Deep Sea Fisherman. About
the time my knees and ankles gave out, so had my patience and pocketbook.
After seeing a Television review of a new computer program called Adobe Photoshop
I decided to abandon life behind the Redwood curtain and return to the
civilization of the San Francisco Bay area to pursue a career in
Computers Graphics.
After a stint as a bookseller, and CAD
draftman, I am moving back towards art again and the Potential work to be
found in Web Design and Animation.
This is what I'm trying to do.
I find an image, I take a photograph of
something that is evocative for me, of nature and pattern and light and
balance and composition. I then try to set it on its ear; visually
change its point of reference to make it familar, yet out of context.
Recognizable enough to evoke a visceral response yet detached enough from its
context to be revisited as an abstract statement.
Heinrich.
