Le Passioni, The Passions, means much more than simply the interplay of the romantic and sexual passions of life. The artist has carefully softened the colors in this painting so as not to express the expected statement of sexual passion but rather to suggest a deeper perspective that our passions in all their expressions are a naturalistic expression of life and of being human. Our passion is not a sin and rather than being controlled and suppressed, their needs must simply be directed to a healthy and positive expression.
