BIOGRAPHY

Roz Avent

Roz Avent's Magical Realist paintings explore the images that lurk on the edge of consciousness. All is not what it seems in these works that at first appear to be whimsical or lighthearted illustrations of familiar stories. Animals, people and objects meet in a disquieting world where the sense of stability is fragile; a feeling of tension and darkness pervades the bright child like images that at first seem so beguiling.

Roz studied painting and printmaking in London in the 1970's and has since explored dance and design as well as continuing to paint.
